2021 Donate knit goods to Afghan refugees NOT

A yarn shop in Eastham posted  the need for knit goods for incoming refugees from Afghanistan. I had just finished a shawl and had pruple yarn from the yarn haul that I could not seem to find a pattern for. It turned into a hat/cap. Working on another hat.

store is Ocean Purls.

donation time ends sometime in November

the organizer in Eastham did not want donation NOT made with her yarn so...

I kept the hat. and will give the shawl and another hat I finished and a hat I made last year that does not fit me- to Morgan Memorial in Hyannis. When I was in Hyannis end of November I forgot totally and really was exhausted from shopping.

SEW: new machine 3342 Singer

as posted here in the sweater blanket post my machine broke down and too tedious for me to repair and too expensive to have it done professionally. More than the $150.00 for the new one so.

It sat in the locked truck over night I waited until I saw one of the men below and he brought it up for me. I tipped him 2 bucks- all I had.

the thing weighed a ton- the packing must have weighed 20 lbs as the machine itself is manageable

cord needed to sit in the sun to smooth out

This is what caused the need

timing off and broken needle.

It can do 32 stitches. I saw on youtube a hint to make a stitch book so you can see what's what. You sew say 4 samples same stitch different length stitch etc on a square of material. Double thickness and make a book of stitches- writing above each the settings used. So  I went to Ben Franklin thinking a solid blue sewn with bright yellow thread would be good. No solids at all. No blues. So I settled for a red that looked like water stained satin. On closer inspection it looks tye dyed and I love it. now to do it LOL
the material.

YARN: YARN HAUL 2021

 Yarn Haul 2021

Just cannot seem to get my camera to recognized the purple in one yarn - it is very vivid! First stop was A Great Yarn- Who Gives a Stitch in Chatham. The place was packed and I had to wait to be able to enter the store itself. Got my bag and passport there. Noticed on my way in that there is a " new" bookstore in Pilgrim Landing- which used to be Munson meeting.

Next stop Adventures in Knitting in Harwich.

Then on to Salt Farm Yarns. This too was packed and a free apple on the way out LOL

Last but not least Black Purls in Sandwich. The one place I thought there would be a nubby yarn to splurge on and I could not get the woman to understand what I meant. LOL so ended up with the brilliant ( in real life) purple yarn.

Chatham- A Great Yarn

newly reopened bookstore I never knew exisited

The yarn and cookie I got there 7.00

Harwich- Adventures in Knitting 12.00

Dennis- Salt Farm Studio 14.00

Black Purl Sandwich 22.00

headless child with hat LOL

total spent 55.00 I think same as 2019!

SEW: Fix plastic bag storage

ugh This has bugged me for ages so felt ambitious late in the day and hauled all the plastic bags out and put into a large paper bag. Then washed the storage tubes let them dry outside. Ironed them then sewed purple loops on each for hanging. Had the extra purple grograin ribbon from mask making- it was a failure for that as they do not stay tied!
