2022: NEW STASH OF YARN

Kar and Jer are going to have some interior painting done soon and Kar was going through her yarn and sorting out yarns and projects she knows she doesn't want to finish- so I get them. wow huge bag of assorted yarns. Some cottons some wools

This ought to keep me busy for a long time.

such wonderful colors!

October 26

started a hat using the Lambs Pride

cast on 90 stitches on to #8 circular needle

1& 2 - K2 P2

3 & 4- K1 P2

5- Knit all

repeat until 6 inches long then decrease and cast off.

cast on the stitches and knit a row and realized it was a mess of tangles pulling from center. I always , mostly, roll into one or two balls first. So since it was a pain in the butt to begin with a cut a long tail and ended up winding the yarn  into 2 balls..It is progressing now. LOL

December 9

winding this yarn into 2 balls it was so tangled LOL

*

December 14

progress on the red yarn, which after getting halfway through the hat the yarn was fraying and breaking fun! I finished the hat and will take a photo eventually. The brown lams wool hat was delightful to work with/

*

more of that red yarn that frayed and broke-

*

The red hat shrunk when washed so must have been more wool than suspected! fun with yarn without a label LOL

*

the above red hat shrunk a lot when washd carefully. so may end up as a pot holder LOL

January 23

This yarn form the stash I wound into 2 balls and did the same with some left over white 100% wool and I am making a double strand iCord belt.

icord belt

*

the above icord belt ended up being a window draft dodger for one front window here.

*

multi yarn hat that I think was Kar yarn just not sure- it did make a nice hat with a pompom which promptly fell off.

2022:SEW & KNIT repairs and reuse

 old post repeat

Over the  years I have knit things that end up shrinking- so I find a use for them. These were neckwarmers and bed socks LOL now a seat for the truck so I can see over the steering wheel. I had sewn the dark sock end incorrectly and had to take out those stitches and try again. It is nice and thick. It was a dark day- my only excuse.

February 19

Bought 3 tops at Macy's. no turtleneck , 100% cotton and very comfortable EXCEPT they had itchy tags at the back. arghhh!

so I decided to remove them hoping to not leave itchiness behind. First one I cut close and tried to pull the rest out with tweezers. second one I cut the tag in half lengthwise and then proceded to stitch rip it out. sewn in twice good grief.

February 22
I have 2 100% wool sweaters. one was zipper front- zipper broke after 20 plus years. The other was a cardigan that Mom knit for all of us. I bet mine is the only one still worn! I had removed the buttons years ago. Recently used safety pins to secure it closed so there was no draft on my belly. Well out on errands I felt this sharp digging in my belly and the safety pins were just too much. panic panic So I sewed the fronts up not so bulky as the other time I did this. Tried them on and fine. Stuck them out on a rack outside hoping they would get snowed on to clean them. Too bulky to hand wash. Winds whipped up and I brought them in. They got enough air. will wear.

so I now have pullover V necks!

of course all hand work eventually involves the ironing board. Mine was driving me crazy with the rocking motion even though it is on a  hard tile floor. It would rock so much it almost sent the iron to the floor many times. So I decided to try something- wrapping the feet with electrical tape. Seems to have minimized the rocking. good enough

wow looks like I did not do much repairing in 2022!
December
I bought a red cashmere sweater online through Macy's and picked it up at Macy's in Hyannis. Long story short- went twice to pick it up- not understanding. LOL Guy clerk was super pleasant you can always joke with him.
I love the sweater it is lightweight warm and easy to wash. Noticed after a couple of days that the bottom button had fallen off! Could not find it and did not hear the vacuum find it either. I had forgotten the rule that anything with buttons needs to be re sewn. one odd ball button. My 2 red spare buttons did not fit the hole.
